Governors

Wood End School is fortunate to have a committed team of 15 governors who play an important role in the leadership and every day life of the school. The governors are unpaid volunteers and are either elected or appointed to serve a four-year term of office. The current governing body of Wood End School comprises:

  • Headteacher
  • Five parent governors – who are elected by parents.
  • One staff governor – elected by the staff.
  • One local authority representative – appointed by the County Council.
  • Seven co-opted governors – appointed by the governing body.

Governors have equal rights to participate in the work of the governing body and to state their own views, but always work as a team and are bound by the collective decisions of that team.

We work in partnership with the head teacher who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school with the support of his senior leadership team and is the principle professional advisor to the governing body.

Minutes from Governing Body meetings are available to read in the school office on request.

The current governors are listed here, including associate members. Associate members are appointed by the governing body to provide specific support and expertise at either committee or full governing body level.
