School Council

School Council 2016-17

Welcome to our page.  Our School Council consists of two children from every class, one boy and one girl, who represent their own class.  The children are elected to the School Council by their peers at the beginning of the autumn term each academic year.
They take whole school issues and ideas from their own class councils and feed them into the School Council.  They also share ideas and decisions from the School Council with their class.  Decisions made within School Council can, and do, have a real impact on the rest of the school.

Roles and Responsibilities
Everyone has a job on the School Council because we think it’s important that the children run it and are fully involved in it.  Here are some of those roles and responsibilities:

Position

Role and Responsibility

Chair Chairs the meeting.
Vice   Chair Alternates   chairing the meeting with the chair.
Secretary Writes   Minutes in the meeting and types them up afterwards.
Treasurer  Assists the secretary with minutes and paperwork.

School Council Members

Key Stage two members assist   the KS1 children in taking notes to share with their classes when they return from the meeting.

This year we are going to be focusing on improving the outside areas of our school so that the children have a wider variety of activities available to them, including quiet areas to spend time chatting with friends.  Fundraising ideas and events to fund some to these initiatives will be organised by the School Council members.
In addition to this, the children will also be involved in organising fundraising activities for chosen charities throughout the year.

If you think you can help, or have more ideas on how to help Wood End School be even better, then put yourself forward for School Council this year. I look forward to working with you!
