Summer Fair Saturday 2nd July, 12 noon to 4pm - We look forward to seeing everyone! Remember to bring lots of change!

Gardening Club

Gardening club takes place in the Spring and Summer terms.

This year Garden Club entered both the District in Bloom and Harpenden in Bloom schools’ competitions and thanks to the skills and enthusiasm of our club members, we have been successful in a number of categories.

In the Harpenden in Bloom competition, we gained a Gold medal for the most creative planter and a Gold award for the sunflower with the most heads – ours had 65!! In the District competition, we were awarded runner up in the Vibrant Veg and we were the winner of the Scrapyard Scarecrow.

We also have a wonderful new shed, which has been funded by a private donation. This is much larger than our old shed and will enable us to store equipment efficiently and also to start some plants off earlier in the year, whatever the weather, helping to enhance our garden even more.

None of this could happen without our dedicated team of parent helpers, who have given so much time and enthusiasm to help the children develop a love of gardening.

Gardening Club 2019

Gardening Club has come to an end after a really successful term! On our last session this Thursday we were able to harvest potatoes, carrots, spinach, lettuce, beetroot and leeks. The children have worked really hard this year to grow an amazing array of things, but have also been really good wildlife helpers, creating new habitats around the school grounds, tending to the school pond and making sure that the whole school has been brightened up all term with colourful displays of flowers and produce.

Thank you to everyone who came and bought a plant from us either last Thursday or at the School Fair, which raised some funds to help us to grow even more next year!

And a big thank you to our big team of helpers - Miss Hills, Mrs Brocklehurst and Mrs Amos (who has been a great supporter over the last 7 years of the club), along with parents Julia Thompson, Sarah Cook, Emma Davey and Sarah MacLaren. We hope to be back in 2020!
